The dynamite Chef

Simone Zanoni is everywhere all at once. On television, on social media, in his vegetable garden, driving his Porsche and managing the restaurant in Paris, the George. The Michelin-starred Chef has energy overflowing and a ravaging smile: he brings truly a fresh wind in the Grande cuisine world.

Chef's Escape Simone Zanoni, a fast-paced journey in the Italian Lakes region

Zanoni learned everything there is to know about cooking at a very young age thanks to his grandmother. He quickly ended up leaving the small family farm in Salò, near Lake Garda, for London, to pursue his passion for cooking.

Simone Zanoni took a leap of faith, and it paid off. At 21, he was spotted by Gordon Ramsay himself and, in a few years, finds himself propelled as Chef of the only three-star Michelin restaurant in London! His mentor then entrusted him at the head of the prestigious Trianon Palace in Versailles. After eight years, he left the Gordon Ramsay galaxy and became the Chef of the George, the Michelin-starred Mediterranean restaurant of the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris.

By reinventing new ways of doing Grande Cuisine, he found immediate success and was awarded a Michelin star. “Our clientele is relaxed and doesn't like the stiff atmosphere of starred restaurants. Neither do I, actually.”

Chef Zanoni is quite the tearaway and nothing can stop him on the road to success. During lockdown, he became a social media sensation with Casa Zanoni, daily videos right from his own kitchen full of vitality and warmth where he shared easy and delicious recipes. A brand emerged - the bomba atomica!, followed by books, TV appearances, cooking shows… Nothing stops Simone!

Behind the wheels of his Porsches or Ducatis, Simone Zanoni is definitely a 2.0 Chef.

Meeting
Simone

Juliana la vagabonda!” This is how Simone greets me, with a smile, when we talk on the phone.

Simone and I share common Italian roots and a love for traveling a hundred miles per hour. And for gastronomy, of course!

I met him in the farmer’s market in Versailles, where he knows every single producer. We went from stall to stall as he was enthusiastically showing me the seasonal mushrooms and the cheese from his favourite producer: “Mamma mia, you have to taste it, it’s bomba atomica.

He then took me to his vegetable garden which supplies the tables of the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris, before he gave me a crash course on homemade raviolis. We ate the raviolis right away. In his kitchen! What a dream for any self-respecting foodie!

Simone Zanoni and I have been creating trip itineraries together for a while now.

He is overflowing with generosity and good energy. He shares with travellers his love for locally-produced food and always travels with his wife Greta: behind every great man, there’s a great woman!

We very naturally came up with the idea of designing two journeys in the region where he grew up, in Italy.

We wish you to enjoy life to the fullest with these bombe atomica trips!
