Simone Zanoni is everywhere. On television, on social networks, in his vegetable garden, at the wheel of his Porsche and... at the controls of the "George". The Michelin-starred Chef, with his boundless energy and his devastating smile, brings a breath of fresh air to the world of Grande Cuisine.

It was with his grandmother, the tutelary figure of his early vocation, that the young Zanoni learned everything about the art of pasta. Soon he left the small family farm of Salò – near Lake Garda - to go to work in London.


Simone Zanoni smiles at life and she returns it well. At 21, he is spotted by Gordon Ramsay himself and, in a few years, finds himself propelled as Chef of the only three-star restaurant in the British capital!

His mentor then entrusted him with the reins of the restaurant of the Trianon Palace in Versailles.

After eight years, he will leave the Gordon Ramsay galaxy to fly on his own and join in 2015, the george, the Mediterranean restaurant of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris.


With his desire to break the codes of Grande cuisine, success is immediately there, with a Michelin star. "Our customers are uninhibited; he doesn't like the fixed side of starred restaurants. No more than me, by the way ".


Wisp overflowing with energy, Chef Zanoni continues, without complex, his mad ascent accelerated by confinement. He becomes a real media phenomenon with his Casa Zanoni, his videos full of pep and conviviality where he shares accessible and tasty recipes. A brand is created: the bomba atomica. Books follow… participation in cooking shows too. We can't stop it!

“Juliana la vagabonda!” This is always how Simone greets me, smiling, when we call each other on WhatsApp, several times a month.


Because Simone and I are a story of Italy, a story of common roots, a story of traveling at two hundred miles an hour – in a Porsche or a Ducati, a story of gastronomy, of course!


I met him at the Versailles market, where he knew every craftsman. Twirling between the stalls, he showed me, excited, the seasonal ceps and the cheeses of his favorite supplier: "Mamma mia, taste this, it's bomba atomica!"


We then went to his permaculture vegetable garden, which provides his starred table at the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, before attacking a workshop of homemade ravioli, immediately tasted in the kitchen. A dream for a gourmet like me!

Simone Zanoni and I regularly create four-handed journeys.


Generous, overflowing with energy, he likes to share with gastronomic travelers his love for the products, for the terroir, for the producers, always accompanied by his wife Greta: behind every great man there is always a woman.


It is therefore quite naturally that we have designed, together, this trip to his native region in Italy. A bomba atomica trip to crunch life to the fullest!
